Today are some random photos from around Taipei. For each one I’ll place a description but there’s a real mixed bag so I hope you can read through and enjoy.
KFC Taipei. KFC in Taipei really shocked as did other American type food. I was expecting KFC, Burger King etc to be about the same level or worse than the UK but it was actually. In KFC you could choose different seasonings for your chicken and suffice to say it was really good.
Shida night market. One of the most famous things about Taipei are it’s night markets. One can buy anything from food to clothes at almost anytime of the day. For example, if you’re hungry and it’s 2am, no problem, go to the night market and grab a 4 course meal for about £2.50. 3am and you want to buy jeans, again no problem. Just walked to your local market and go shopping.
I really wish the UK could be like this.
Shopping at Shida night market. We went to a few different night markets in Taipei but I liked Shida the most. You can buy really gorgeous food but the highlight is the shopping. At this shop, which is literally one of hundreds, you can buy cute handbags.
Ok, I know it’s sad posting pictures of traffic lights but they amuse me so much. I don’t know about other countries but the UK either has a green standing man or red standing man. In Taipei they have walking men traffic lights. Really funny to me.
(Update: During our holiday in Spain we saw the same style traffic lights which are built by a Taiwanese company)
Taipei shopping. Not the prettiest picture by far but Taipei is all about it’s shopping. One can buy practically anything they want at varying prices.
Liv on her phone again! If she goes home she’s on the phone all the time.
This has to be one of my favourite streets for anywhere I’ve travelled to. I don’t know the name of the street but it’s affectionately called “Camera Street” as the whole street is lined only with camera shops. We popped into a couple shops to check out cameras and their prices. One of the stores sold Hasselblad 503CW camera bodies but was horrendously expensive. As a note we went to a large department store close to the Wine Factory in another post and they were selling Canon 5d mk2 bodies for around £1600 at a time when they were selling for £2100 plus in the UK.
Pretty miserable day sadly but many people still use scooters to get around Taipei.
Liv’s cat. Liv has a maine coon cat which is absolutely huge but really cute. I took this picture as he actually jumped on the scales himself. If I remember correctly he weighs about 10kg.
360-degree panorama of a typical street in Taipei. This isn’t the street which Liv’s home is on but is almost identical. From the outside these homes look really ordinary but can be really nice inside.
