Chengdu was a funny place. It’s very touristy with loads of things you can buy for gifts but the highlight is definitely the pandas. Chengdu however, when you take away the incredible Sichuan hot pot (which is basically a boiling pot of Chinese chili’s and Sichuan pepper corns which you flash boil things in) and the panda’s, is actually quite boring.
One of our favourite TV personalities is Anthony Bourdain. We love his cooking shows and his willingness to try almost anything and he went to the same restaurant in Chengdu that we did for the hot pot. One thing we didn’t like about his show was not him but his guidance. When he went to Shanghai he ate food near Yu Garden which he was told was really good but in fact the food was really low quality. Check out his TV show for more info.
Anyway, here are some of my favourite photos from Chengdu. I can’t recommend going there enough just for the pandas, they’re really beautiful.
