So recently I’ve been really busy. First of all I was fully booked with weddings in July, I had 7 in total as well a shooting an event for the Royal Regiment at Dreghorn Barracks in the South of Edinburgh.
I’m still currently working on several weddings which I’ll be updating this blog with in due course but another two major things have happened.
Firstly, my partner is pregnant! We will be having our first child and as you can image we’re immensely happy. This will be our first child and while it’s early days in pregnancy (she’s out 9-10 weeks at the time of writing this post) everything is happening at exactly the right time for us.
Another big change and less important personally but more important professionally, I’ve changed my website. When I got really serious about photography I first of all invested in a Livebooks website largely due to their superb Educational Pricing system (I think it was about $100 a year or something like that at the time). I then finished being a student and decided to move on the Big Folio as a number of my favourite wedding photographers use their templates (or in their case custom websites).
Big Folio are exceptionally quick in responding to emails and their templates look really beautiful. They also have a html back end so they index well in Search Engines.
The first image below is my standard Splash Page. This has remained almost the same but it does get updated periodically to try to improve my SEO. The next image is my original website template and the image at the bottom is the new template.
Interested to hear what you think.
I’m using the same Splash page for the moment. It’s working well for me and contains most of the information from the website but compacted down for quick and easy viewing. I’ll probably be asking Big Folio to make me a custom splash page for me in the nearish future.
Old Website. This uses the Santiam Pass template from Big Folio and if you only have a few bits of information to share then it’s really great. Unfortunately for me it’s impossible to get the size of everything correct to contain the information I want and to make it still readable.
New website. I’m now using Big Folio’s premium template, called the Artist Series, and for me it looks so much better. I can display much larger images, the graphics are cute but not over-the-top and it allows me to display a large amount of information.
I’ve been desperately impressed with Big Folio while I have been using them. Their websites index well as they use a HTML mirror site, customer service is exceptionally quick and their websites are easy to configure and really nice to look at.
Big Folio can be found here
