The first time I visited Taipei I went to a number of restaurants and night markets but one of the highlights was Swensens. Swensens is located at 106 Taiwan Taipei City Daan District Section 4, RénÀi Road 109號 and serves really fantastic American style food 24 hours a day. From what I was told Daan District has a lot of nightclubs so revellers will fall out of the clubs and they can grab some awesome food afterwards.
When we went there in 2009 my father-in-law ordered a burger for breakfast which made me chuckle as I was expecting him to receive a tiny McDonalds style burger but what he received was a dustbin lid sized burger, way bigger than the one pictured below.
So since then I’ve been pining for this breakfast burger. For the first couple days we were in Taipei we struggled to get used to the time shift so we kept waking up at 3am Taipei time (7-8pm UK time). We woke up on the second day, went to a 24 hour bookstore, bought some books and headed to Swensens.
Liv ordered a mango smoothie, a pumpkin soup and a steak. Everything was delicious. I liked her drink, the soup (I’m not a huge pumpkin fan) was delicious and her steak, which was cooked perfectly, was covered in garlic butter. Awesome! My burger was quite a bit smaller than the previous burger my father in law had (I believe this was because of the time) but nonetheless it was delicious. Everything was prepared exactly how I like. I also ordered a cookies and cream milkshake which I drank in just a couple of minutes, really tasty again.
So anyway, whether you’re Taiwanese or a foreigner visiting Taiwan and want to grab some great American food anytime of the day I would definitely recommend Swensens. We paid about £25-30 for everything.
Note: I know the menu photos are very amateurish but who cares, I was on holiday
