Car photographer London. I was never a big fan of the original Range Rover Evoque. It basically felt like a big Ford Focus and was too basic and I just didn’t like it. It wasn’t as bad as the Freelander and I can’t even drive the Defender’s (too big, legs are too long) but I do love the big Ranger Rovers, especially the new Discovery (the big one) the Sport and Autobiography/Vogue models. The SVRs are awesome!
So the new Range Rover Evoque is about to come out and it’s awesome. From the front, it looks like a Velar and from the side, it looks like a Sport. Inside it has the same digital centre displays as the Velar but has the feel of the big Discovery that came out a couple of years ago.
The really cool tech that I saw was the rearview mirror. In one setting it’s a traditional mirror but with the flick of a switch, it turns into a digital display, very cool. There’s also the clear view technology that allows one to see exactly where the front wheels are tracking. When looking through the centre console display, cameras under the car give the effect of the bonnet disappearing so in theory you’ll be able to stay on track, navigate through small passageways and (most importantly for me) not scuff your wheels.
So here are some photos. I must get around to doing something more arty with my car photos in the future (discussing shooting cars with drones with some people) but right now I simply don’t have the time.
Incidentally, I’ve also just ordered myself a new car. I’ve finally given in and bought a Jaguar XF. I’ve been driving a Volkswagen mk7 Golf R for the last several years and while I love it drinks petrol and I’m at a stage where I want something a bit softer/more practical etc.
