Beast from the East Wedding
I’m trying to keep my wedding and commercial photography businesses separate nowadays but right now in Edinburgh we’re suffering from a storm front called the Beast from the East and it literally has been a beast. Last weekend is was 10C+, snowdrops were appearing in my garden and it was turning nice. A couple days later the temperature dropped to up to minus 9C and we experienced the largest amount of snow since the big freeze of 2010.
In summary, the weather has been really shit. So Caitriona and Sean booked me for the wedding a few months ago and their wedding was due to take place during the Beat from the East. They came over from Ireland but I think it’s bit of a miracle they made it here. Their flight was cancelled and they had to drive some 700+ miles to get here but thankfully they managed to avoid the traffic on the way here (13 hour tailbacks around Glasgow).
On the day of their wedding the weather was still super cold and snowy and they were to get married at Dunbars Close Garden but we arrived and it was locked. Another shit! It was only the two of them at their wedding and in Scotland at least, as long as you have an official registrar/celebrant and sometimes a permit, you can get married absolutely anywhere you want so I suggested getting married on the banks of St Margarets Loch underneath Arthurs Seat and in Holyrood Park.
What an awesome decision. Dunbars Close Garden is pretty but Arthurs Seat and the Loch are mega pretty when it snows so after some initial disappointment and some stressing I think everything worked out super well. I’ve done a few couples shoots around Arthurs Seat and it is an awesome location.
So, Beast from the East turned initially into Pain in the Ass from The East and remained Mega Cold from the East but I love the photos so much I have to share some already. Once the photos are done I’ll probably share a few more on this website but I’ll write a full blog post on my wedding website Joyful Weddings so keep posted on both websites.
