Recently I had a bit of a car crash in central Edinburgh where a lady reversed into my car at some traffic lights which damaged the front left wing of the car. My insurance company sent round an assessor and they determined the car was a right off. Prior to the car being written off my insurance company gave me a Vauxhall Corsa to use so we thought what better than to give the car a blast and drive over to Blair Drummond Safari Park which is just on the other side of Stirling.
I absolutely love safari parks, LOVE THEM! Prior to Blair Drummond Safari Park I hadn’t been to a safari park since I was a child and our daughter is now alert enough to enjoy looking at the animals so we thought we’d go over. We also like to try to take our daughter out most days as she gets a little bored and thus grouchy if she stays at home all day.
Blair Drummond is great, really good fun and there’s a great selection of animals including lions, a tiger, bears, elephants, giraffes, rhino’s and more. The day we went the weather was interesting (clear in the morning, pee’d it down when we arrived but then quickly cleared up. We stopped off at the main recreation area, had a walk around then jumped back in the car and drove through the park. If I remember correctly we were there for a good couple hours but next year we’ll definitely go back. The park holds parties for children and there’s also an open area for barbeques, perfect for families.
So below are a few photos from the day. Sadly the lions and bears were sleeping and the tiger was too far away to take a photo of but I still took loads of photos. Probably my favourite moment was seeing the meerkat baby. Ever since I was a wee baby I’ve loved meerkats so this was a real highlight.
Visiting Blair Drummond has also made me want to go on a real safari. Who knows, maybe we’ll suddenly decide to go on one in the next couple of years.
