Bread Meats Bread Review
There are bad burgers, mediocre burgers, good burgers and then great burgers and Bread Meats Bread is one of those burger restaurants whose burgers are great. As big food people Liv and I are always on the hunt for new or really great restaurants. The main shopping area of Glasgow is a bit weak food wise but literally turn off the main high street and you have some absolutely fantastic restaurants.
If you want to eat a burger you have three main choices in the city centre. There’s TGI Fridays which is super common but the quality of the food can vary a lot (the last three or visits I made my burger patties were always burnt). I liked them a lot when I was a child but there are much better choices for a lot less money elsewhere.
On St Vincent Street where Bread Meats Bread is there’s a Handmade Burger, a Five Guys and BMB. We haven’t been for a while but there’s a Handmade Burger just five minutes from where we live so if neither us can be bothered to cook one of our best options with Amelia is handmade burger. The food is pretty good, the milkshakes great and it’s a nice place to sit. Five Guys are pretty expensive but the food is great. Everything I believe is cooked in peanut oil and you can make up your own burgers. The burgers are absolutely delicious, the chips awesome and the milkshakes are to die for. They are expensive though.
BMB offers completely unique things like poutines and all kinds of different burgers. Their standard burgers are pretty good but their best burger is their luther burger. In association with quite possibly the best bakery in the area, Bostock Bakery in North Berwick, they’ve created what is essentially a doughnut burger. The burger itself can have a double meat patty, cheese, bacon, the normal but the bread they use tastes like french bread. One bun is covered in honey, the other sea salt and it’s like eating a french toast burger. It’s awesome! Liv and I have eaten a couple of these and Liv took her American chef friend to eat there and she thought the burger was really great. BMB also have a huge up because they stock doughnuts from Bostock which again are amazing.
So I’ve almost reviewed three burger restaurants in the same location. Handmade Burger is like old faithful, Five Guys if it wasn’t for the luther burger would probably be my favourite but it is expensive (£9 a burger, £5 a milkshake, £4+ for chips etc). Bread Meats Bread however have the incredible luther burger and I absolutely love the poutines (a bowl of chips with bacon, cheese curds, gravy etc).
