Dalhousie Castle Scotland Wedding
Dalhousie Castle Scotland Wedding. Easily one of my favourite venues and in my honest opinion the most beautiful castle in the Edinburgh area is Dalhousie Castle. I’ve shot a few weddings there and this year I had the pleasure of capturing two weddings. The other being a wedding for Kelly and Lee on the 7th January.
That was a pretty interesting wedding for me for several reasons. First of all it’s a wedding at Dalhousie Castle. I just love the venue! Secondly it was my birthday and thirdly my daughter, who was nearly four at the time, had her first operation. So it was a busy day! Today’s wedding for Melissa and Tyler was a really small affair with just myself as their photographer and a couple members of staff acting as witnesses.
I’ve written about this before but every year I’m finding more and more couples who just a really small wedding and they’re happy to elope from often great distances. Melissa and Tyler in this case eloped all the way from Canada and I do think it’s really amazing how someone from such a distance can just say “right, we’re getting married in Edinburgh” and then go through the whole process of booking a venue, photographer etc. Many couples who elope to Edinburgh get married at Lothian Chambers, which still is a really awesome venue,
So it’s nice to go to a different venue, learn people’s stories, enjoy their huge occasion and to catch lots of great photos. I was only booked for an hour and they really did want something low key; no preparation shots and only photos of the ceremony and photo all around the venue. The ceremony itself was quick and lovely then I took them for a lap around the grounds for lots of photos. There’s a wee bridge at the bottom of the hill which is great for photos and various other spots which I love working around.
On the day, in typical Scottish fashion, it rained on and off for most of the day and I seem to remember around the ceremony it did rain but we were quite lucky with the weather. It was only right at the end of the circle around the grounds that it started spotting so we did really well.
And that’s it for this wedding. Melissa and Tyler were a real joy to work with, a lot of fun and genuinely really great people. The ceremony was lovely, the venue amazing and even in just the hour and a bit that I worked with just the two of them I managed to capture several hundred photos. Hope you like this Dalhousie Castle Scotland Wedding.
