Dean Village and Lauriston Castle Engagement Shoot

This autumn I have my first wedding at Orocco Pier coming up which I’m so excited about. Orocco Pier is a really beautiful venue in one of the most beautiful towns in the Edinburgh/Midlothian area South Queensferry. Equally as great as the venue are Sarah and Leigh who I’m really excited about working with again.

We met a few months ago and just a couple weeks ago it was time for their pre shoot and with the really gorgeous weather I decided to keep Sarah and Leigh out of the centre of town and stick with a water theme.

As you’ll know if you follow this blog I absolutely love Dean Village. It really does feel like a village within the city. It’s relatively peaceful, there are many beautiful walks and the Water of Leith that runs through looks really beautiful. It’s also such a great place to get away from all the tourists. Most tourists in Edinburgh tend to stay in New and especially Old Town with the castle, Holyrood Palace, the Crags etc but hardly one goes to Dean. Shame for them, bonus for myself and the couples I work with.

So following a really good amount of photos taken in Dean we headed off to Newhaven Harbour where we took some photos on the Pier and then we headed off to Lauriston Castle. Lauriston Castle is again one of those venues rarely visited by tourists (relative to say Edinburgh Castle) but it’s much prettier, the grounds are beautiful and I dare say a lot more interesting.

Finally we headed off to Cramond to take some photos along the coast. We had a view of popping into one of the local pubs but Liv called me with an emergency and by this time we had been shooting for a few hours and we were all hot so I dropped Sarah and Leigh off in South Queensferry.

As mentioned Sarah and Leigh were great to work with. They’re a really lovely couple and followed my directions perfectly. Can’t wait to work with them again in just a couple of months time.
