I’ve written a lot more about this wedding on my wedding website Joyful Weddings at this link but I photographed a wedding fairly recently at the Dome on George Street. The Dome is a truly stunning venue inside and it’s characterised by the large domed roof in the middle of the bar/restaurant.
Jim and Candace came over from the USA with their children and a few guests to get married at the Dome. Jim is originally from Scotland and it was quite interesting discussing how he went from living in Scotland to moving to the USA as Liv and I are thinking about moving away in the next five years or so. Basically in the mid 90s we had a few really crappy years of weather and he took a holiday to somewhere hot and decided “that’s it, I’ve had enough”. I believe he travelled with his work anyway so he decided to pack up and move to the USA where he has been for some 20+ years.
Obviously with his roots in Scotland he still has people (friends/family etc) here so as a lot of people do with family in different locations, he came back here to get married and I’ve no doubt have some kind of celebration in the USA in the future.
I won’t write too much here as I mentioned you can read about their wedding in more depth on my dedicated wedding website but it was a really cool wedding. We decided due to the time of the week and weather that we would do the posed photos before the ceremony and then after the ceremony I would do a few group shots and lots of candid shots of people enjoying themselves and this was great.
We have really good weather (although a bit cold), everyone looked great, Jim, Candace and their children were great to work with and we did a procession of some really fabulous locations in Edinburgh with a ceremony at a really incredible venue in central Edinburgh, the Dome.
My work nowadays is a mixture of car photography (30%), property photography (40%) and weddings, events (20%) and the rest of my time is decided to starting up my web design business but I’ve got a load of weddings to share soon, tonnes more properties and various other things, so keep posted.
