Edinburgh Castle Dean Village Wedding
I’ve written a lot more about this wedding over at my wedding website; Joyful Weddings, but just over a month ago I photographed a wedding at St Margarets Chapel at Edinburgh Castle followed by photos around Edinburgh. Alayne and Kevin originally wanted to get married in Edinburgh but they live in Miami and it was decided it would be too much hassle to sort out documents so they got married in the states and came here for a pretend ceremony.
It was the first time both Alayne and Kevin had visited Edinburgh and we discussed where to take photos after the ceremony. Most people are happy with taking photos around the centre of town but at this time of the year Edinburgh is already super busy with tourists. Literally you can find a quiet spot for photos and within a minute you’ll have a group of 30 tourists. Basically tourists are great for the economy but they’re an absolute pain in the backside when taking wedding photos, so I suggested going to some of my favourite spots.
So we took photos at the castle then did a detour past Camera Obscura down to Ramsay Gardens and then Old College on the Mound. Alayne and Kevin booked a taxi for the entire duration of our shoot so we headed down to Dean Village where we did most of our couple’s photos and it was a great decision. Dean Village is super pretty during the summer and pretty quiet and we timed it well with the tide so we could go down to the water side for photos.
We worked together for several hours and it was really great fun, a great wedding with a really lovely couple.
