Edinburgh Corporate Portraits. During September I was hired to shoot some corporate portraits for a chemical company based on Queen Street in Edinburgh. They wanted head shots taken on location rather than in a studio for which I used a portable lighting kit.
They wanted two sets of head shots taking. They wanted a more classic head and shoulders portrait but also a closer up version. My favourite way of shooting portraits is wide open. If I could do all of my photography at f2.8 or wider I would but I got results I was happy with at two different apertures. The company wanted the portraits to be fairly simple with a basic background for which you can see the results below.
It’s a really nice feeling to get back to shooting studio style portraits. I don’t do a lot of studio work nowadays but it’s good to mess around with lights but also to control my surroundings. The outside shots were shot with daylight and a little fill in flash but here are my favourite pictures from this shoot. The first two gentlemen were really nervous in front of the camera but whatever the type of job I do I always have a chat with clients and try to have bit of a laugh, which always puts people at ease.
