Events and Group Photography

Over the last few years I’ve photographed all kinds of different events. These have ranged from choir concerts to 300 plus people in a group to corporate workshops to lifestyle events to more.

Events come in all shapes and forms and I’ve photographed a number of events throughout the Edinburgh area. These range from outdoor events like the Loony Dook to parades in the Old Town to things like corporate events in and around Edinburgh. Below are sections about the different types of events I have photographed as well as example photographs and links to these events.

Corporate Workshops

Events come in all shapes and forms and I’ve photographed a number of events throughout the Edinburgh area. These range from outdoor events like the Loony Dook to parades in the Old Town to things like corporate events in and around Edinburgh. Corporate Evenings / Awards Presentations

Corporate Functions and awards presentations are really great fun to be part of. Generally there is a really relaxed environment and for the events I’ve photographed before I’ve been required to photograph people receiving their awards as well as ambient photos from those events. A very popular event for these types of functions is Norton House Hotel which I have visited a few times. It’s close to the airport, the hotel itself is lovely and the facilities are superb for business purposes.

Group Photography

If you’re a wedding photographer you’ll almost certainly be hired at some point(s) to do some group photography. I’ve photographed groups ranging from just 10 or so people (aside from weddings) to 300 plus students for freshers week.

Every group has it’s own challenges but that’s why you hire a professional photographer. I have a tremendous amount of experience working with groups and have very unique ways of getting the best out of them.

Graduation Balls

The Balmoral Hotel in central Edinburgh is one of the most popular venues in Edinburgh for graduation balls. These are just a few photos for examples for a graduation ball. I didn’t want to include all of the dancing photos but you can see more about this graduation ball here

Music Events

Inevitably one of the first things many photographers do when they become seriously interested in photography or even work as a photographer is music photography. I dabbled with a tiny bit of band photography right before I started to get serious about photography but almost a decade after I started working as a photographer I’ve started to photograph a few music related events.

Two particular highlights were the choir and pipe band concerts below.

Fringe Festival Edinburgh 2010 – Part Six

This is the last group of photos that I caught during the Fringe Festival. The first performer I saw was a lady from Australia who was spinning hula hoops on a box supported by pint glasses. She looked quite scared, especially as she said she fell off

Fringe Festival Edinburgh 2010 – Part Five

Today was full of Eastern performers. There were a group of, I’m assuming Japanese, performers dressed up as Geisha’s and a quite funny Chinese-Canadian magician. She did a houdini act and made loads of jokes about white people, not a bad thing at
