Freshers Week Group Photography. Today I took group shots of Freshers week for the the University of Birmingham‘s Medical Society. To date I’ve photographed a couple small group shots but this was a huge jump to over 300 medical society students for the big group photo. Thankfully it wasn’t that difficult to shoot. First of all the car park in front of the steps where we took the photos was pretty clear and I also had a megaphone from which I was able to shout instructions. Out of the 300 or so students everyone managed to sit still apart from about 2 or 3 students (I took several shots and it was always the same ones) so I think that was pretty good going.
The shoot itself was good fun, I took around 10 photos of the groups and I was really happy that the first photo turned out as well as it did. After the shoot I received orders for a couple hundred photos so Liv and I spent two whole days mounting the prints. I personally literally printed, cut up and mounted over 100 prints in just the one evening. We delivered the prints around two weeks after the shoot then the following day we moved permanently to Edinburgh. We had been planning our big move for a few months and it’s almost ironic how such a big job would come up just days before moving but it’s cool. We got everything done, everything packed (latter at the last minute) and apart from a couple issues once in Edinburgh it was all good.
I decided to include all of the logos and text in these group photos as this was how everything was supplied to the University. If you’re interested in having a group shot done in a similar manner then get in contact. My prices aren’t ridiculous and my turnaround is really quick.
