Galae Restaurant Chiang Mai

When we went to Thailand we decided that we would try to go to three different kinds of environments (one per week for 3 weeks total). We wanted to do the big city Bangkok we wanted to do the seaside and we wanted to do the northern hills.

Now Bangkok is Bangkok, if you like big cities like we do you’ll love it. Bangkok is London x 2 and on steroids, it’s awesome, and for the beach we went to Krabi which gave us mixed feelings but we did love the boat tour we did (Liv less so as she gets seasickness but that’s a whole other story).

Now for Chiang Mai we didn’t really research it that much so going was bit of an unknown, but we knew we wanted to do an elephant jungle safari, we wanted to check out Daddy’s Antiques Cafe and there’s also a night safari which I’ll write about in due course. I also wanted to try out Khao Soi (curry dish with noodles), which I did and it was awesome.

So in terms of eating out (our big thing) we wanted to do an outdoor hillside restaurant and Galae wasn’t too far from our hotel so we checked it out. Absolutely lovely! Galae sprawls across a hillside and is surrounded but thousands of flowers and has a reservoir/lake by where you eat. It has a really relaxed environment, is really warm but sheltered and the food is really great. We could easily just sit there all day drinking mango smoothies and Thai milk teas but Chiang Mai is too much fun to just stay in one place.

Just two locations that perfectly explain this are the markets and the old city. Click on each link for more.
