Glenskirlie Castle Wedding

Back in July I photographed a wedding for Simon and Fiona and Cormiston Farm over in Biggar. That was an absolutely fantastic wedding, one of my favourites of the year but without Louise and Jevan for who this wedding is about I probably wouldn’t have photographed that wedding. Louise and Jevan were kind enough to refer me to Simon and Fiona and instead of photographing just one brilliant wedding I was able to photograph two. A couple months before Louse and Jevan’s wedding I did a pre shoot with them at Lauriston Castle and Dean Village so I knew what it would be like to work with them on their wedding day and I was really excited.

Despite Jevan and Simon being friends their weddings were completely different but equally great. I love photographing weddings in churches and a reception on a farm is perfect for me but I really loved the wedding venue Louise and Jevan found. They got married at Glenskirle House and Castle between Falkirk and Glasgow.

Glenskirlie Castle is a really lovely venue and I was really impressed with both the organisation and the food on the day. Jevan and Louise were an absolute pleasure to work with on the day and as well as this being one of the funniest weddings of the year it was, for myself, one of the most comfortable relaxed weddings as well. All of the guests that I talked to on the day were really lovely and the whole day was hilarious.

I won’t write a lot more about this post as I’m just playing catch up with work right now. I was really ill at the beginning of the week which put me in bed for nearly 2 days and I’ve got various jobs and tasks that I’m trying to wrap up but hope you like the photos below.

Possibly an interesting fact but something that I only learnt about while photographing this wedding. The venue is called Glenskirlie Castle but for me, and I mean no disprespect by this, the venue looks like a really big hotel. Apparently if you’re house or venue has a turret then it can be called a castle. So this fact boggles me but you could literally build a one bedroom house and it has a turret it’s a castle. How interesting
