Leith Registrars Office Lauriston Castle Wedding
I have to say Leith Registrars Office is becoming one of my favourite wedding venues. As you may know or can see from my website I photographed an absolute tonne of weddings at the old Lothian Chambers in central Edinburgh, but sadly that’s now gone so people who are coming to Edinburgh to get married in a registry office have three options; South Queensferry Registrars Office, City Chambers and this venue, Leith Registrars Office.
City Chambers is great, the council have put quite a lot of effort into making it a good looking wedding venue and I do photograph quite a few weddings there. It’s great for what it is. South Queensferry’s office is in a really great location and if the weather is nice it’s awesome as you have the Forth bridges right behind you. But, the building is in desperate need of a refurbish.
But Leith Registrars Office looks great inside and of the few weddings I’ve photographed there, this is the first one I’ve photographed downstairs in the main foyer and what an absolutely perfect spot.
I wrote more over on my wedding website Joyful Weddings about this wedding and I always hope to have some fun with couples and wedding parties and this wedding for Felicity and Kyle had fun in spades and shows why Leith Registrars Office is a great venue.
Unlike the other venues where you literally do everything around the venue, the immediate surrounding area around Leith Registrars Office has nothing so you have to walk or jump in a car and go a few minutes to a location for photos and around that area there are some great locations. A five minute walk away you have the Shore and Newhaven Harbour, the latter where we took some photos, and we also discussed other venues before. We had initially agreed to take some photos around Dean Village but if it has rained it’s pretty lethal down there and as sods law would dictate it rained that day.
I suggested going to Lauriston Castle and after fighting through the traffic we made it there and the resulting photos are some of my favourite in recent years. We captured some romantic photos but the running shots are awesome and we had a lot of fun.
So make sure you book me for your wedding at Leith Registrars Office and let’s go to Newhaven Harbour, definitely Lauriston Castle and possibly another location or two and you’ll have a seriously awesome set of photos.
