Lothian Chambers and Edinburgh Masonic Club Wedding. Towards the end of May I photographed a wedding for Michelle and Michael at Lothian Chambers Registrars Office with a reception at Edinburgh Masonic Club. With reception work levels I’m quite late blogging this wedding but nonetheless I thoroughly enjoyed this wedding and Michael and especially Michelle were a really great couple to work with.
Fairly unique to Registry Office Weddings that I photograph nowadays this was a full day wedding which started with preparation shots at Michelle’s home in Lochend. It was quite cool going to her house as I lived just around the corner from her for several years but since Liv and I moved to the Granton area we are now much further away. It also gave me a change to have a quick sneaky peek to see what’s going on with our old property. I was probably at her house for about 1.5 hours in which time I captured quite a lot of preparation photos.
Following Michelle putting her wedding dress on I rushed into town and went straight to the Registry Office. It was a fairly large wedding party which again is something a bit more exceptional nowadays. Some weddings at Edinburgh’s Registrars Office are small, some are large, others in between. No two weddings are the same.
The ceremony itself was quite short as always but as always was in good humour. Christina was the registrar for this wedding who’m I have had the pleasure of working with many times.
After the ceremony we took some photos within the Chambers and then took the whole wedding party outside for a group shot on the main steps of St Giles Cathedral. After several group shots the wedding party bar Michelle and Michael headed off and we spent around 20-30 minutes taking photos in some of my favourite locations around Edinburgh Old Town.
After the photos in Old Town we went to the reception venue which was the Edinburgh Masonic Club. Michelle and Michael met at this venue a good few years before so it was only fitting they returned there for their wedding. The Masonic Club is an interesting venue to photograph, quite dark but with plenty of character.
So that’s it for this post. Great wedding, interesting venues and a really lovely couple. I’m a few days late posting this wedding so I’ve added extra images to compensate. Between capturing this wedding and writing this blog post I’ve captured quite a few weddings including two more at Edinburgh Registry Office, one at Bonham Hotel (cool hotel!) and another on a farm in Biggar.
