Lothian Chambers and Kitchin Wedding
Lothian Chambers and Kitchen Wedding. Around mid 2015 I captured this Lothian Chambers Registry Office Wedding for a really fantastic couple. Most of my registry office weddings involve arriving before the ceremony, taking photos of people arriving, taking photos of the ceremony, group and couples photos afterwards and that’s it.
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with this, in fact I love these kind of weddings as they for me as a photographer are short, sweet, fun and intensive but for this wedding I was hired to take preparation photos in the morning, the ceremony and the obligatory posed photos afterwards and then we headed back to the apartment the couple had rented.
Both the bride and groom live outside of Scotland so they rented a really incredible duplex apartment close to Leith’s shore area. In typical Edinburgh fashion the building is completely unassuming from the outside in that you don’t know what’s inside. Inside this flat it was a really incredible duplex which I believe is priced around the three quarter million mark and I would absolutely love to live there. I stayed at the apartment for around an hour for the preparation shots then headed over to Lothian Chambers in the taxi with the bride.
Normally I would drive to Lothian Chambers but the plan for the day was to go to the apartment afterwards, hang around for several hours and then everyone would go to Kitchin restaurant for a meal. The day was really great. Both the bride and groom were super easy to work with, very relaxed in front of the camera and equally as important were genuine lovely people.
All of the guests that I spoke to were the same, absolutely great.
After this the wedding party popped into Kitchin restaurant (Michelin star restaurant) as well to take some photos and that was the first time I had been in there. Kitchin in the few months prior to the wedding had built a celebration room and while small it was intimate. I don’t really care for Michelin star food myself that much but I would like to try out the food at the restaurant one day.
