Every year one of my first couple weddings of the year is always one at Lothian Chambers Registry Office and this year it was my second wedding but an absolutely great one.
I was hired by Morag and Steve just a couple months before their wedding and we had tried to arrange a date to meet up before the wedding but this sadly didn’t happen but on the day of the wedding when we finally met I had a good feeling about them and their wedding was really great.
Morag and Steve had originally booked the McIntyre suite at Lothian Chambers and while this is still a great suite I always recommend to couples to book the City of Edinburgh suite for two main reasons. The first is the grandeur of the City of Edinburgh Suite, it’s absolutely beautiful inside. Secondly it’s so much easier for me to work in as there’s a lot more space to move around in but also there’s normally a lot more light for me to work with. Their wedding was a little different as at the time of their wedding the registry office was in the final stages of doing renovation work on their roof so there was scaffolding all around the building. This made all of the rooms a lot darker and was a great challenge for my new camera which worked absolutely brilliantly.
So for us, and I say us as Liv will be doing a lot more weddings with me in the future, our booking started with taking photos of guests arriving, taking some photos of Morag and Steve prior to the ceremony, taking photos during and after the ceremony and then taking a few photos at their reception at the Balmoral Hotel.
The ceremony was lovely with two really nice readings and they both seemed really comfortable in front of the camera and posed absolutely perfectly for all the staged shots. After the staged shots inside Lothian Chambers we headed outside and we took some photos in the local area and then headed down to the Balmoral.
This was the third or fourth time I’ve done some photography in the Balmoral and it’s a really beautiful venue to work in. While the rooms are less elaborate than some other hotels the hotel is perfectly stylish and is always a pleasure to work in.
Here are some of my favourite photos from this really lovely wedding.
