Just a few weeks ago I photographed another wedding at Lothian Chambers Registry Office right in the middle of Edinburgh’s Old Town.
For this wedding it was just Edel and Barry who came over from Ireland with Liv and myself acting as witnesses. They chose the McIntyre suite which I’ve really had mixed feelings about taking photos in before but it’s a room which I now really love taking photos. The main issue from a photography point of view is the McIntyre suite is really small for photography purposes and in the past I tried to stay away from using wide angle lenses but now I’m using Nikon cameras and their truly incredible wide angle lenses (my favourite is the 14-24 2.8) this really isn’t an issue anymore.
But back to the wedding itself, I really love small weddings with just the bride and groom as I can get more personal with the couples, have more fun and there isn’t the distraction of wedding guests. This isn’t to say I don’t like big weddings, I absolutely do, but I really enjoyed working with just Edel and Barry. The ceremony itself was typical Lothian Chambers, short but really lovely, and following the ceremony we took some photos within the chambers.
On the day of their wedding we had absolutely perfect wedding weather. Scotland right now is really mild and on the day we didn’t have blazing sunshine but it was still really bright. We went to a few different locations around Old Town but all within a 5 minute walk of Lothian Chambers and I’m really happy with the way the photos have turned out. Edel and Barry were an absolute pleasure to work with and I can’t wait for my next wedding in the McIntyre Suite at Lothian Chambers
