One of my first wedding jobs of 2014 was shooting a wedding for Hazel and Al at Lothian Chambers Registrars Office here in central office, so when they came back to me later in the year to ask if I would be interested in shooting their wedding reception at Oxenfoord Castle I immediately said yes.
Oxenfoord Castle is a family owned castle just south of Edinburgh in the Loanhead area. Both inside and out Oxenfoord Castle is absolutely beautiful and there’s an infinite number of things that will capture your eye from the traditional painted portraits of the family to the various weapons on the walls to the beautiful future. The grounds are also really beautiful but sadly due to the Scottish winter weather it was decided it would be best to avoid getting covered in mud and trampling it through the castle.
So this was the second time I worked with Hazel and Al. The first as mentioned above was when I photographed their wedding at Lothian Chambers Registrars Office in Old Town with a small but lovely reception at Hotel Du Vin, also in Old Town, but it was a fairly small wedding so they had their wedding reception at the castle with a lot more people.
My job was to capture some couple shots of Hazel and Al before the guests arrive then capture people mingling together with a few group shots and really informal couple shots thrown in. In total I was there for about 6 or 7 hours (I don’t remember exactly without checking the raw files) but Hazel and Al ended up with a really large selection of photos which they were really happy with.
Once the weather has improved and the trees and plants start to blossom I’ll go back to Oxenfoord Castle to take some still shots of the castle and gardens and I’ll update this post but here is a small selection of photos taken on the day of their reception. Hope you like these photos from this Oxenfoord Castle Wedding.
