Salisbury Arms Edinburgh Pre Wedding Shoot

September 01, 2012

During August I only updated my blog once which for me is pretty horrendous. This particular blog post has two real purposes, one is to bring you up to date on what’s been going on with both my business and personally, while the second purpose is to give you a really brief introduction to a really awesome wedding I photographed at the end of July.

I’ll introduce the wedding first of all. Right at the end of July I photographed a wedding for Tina and Philip at St Leonards Hall which is part of the University of Edinburgh. I first met Tina and Philip around March, just after Amelia was born, and I instantly liked them and for months was excited about capturing their wedding. As part of the package they booked they got a pre wedding shoot included at no extra cost  (can’t recommend them enough) but Tina and Philip are from Germany, so organising a pre shoot was a little tricky. What we eventually agreed on was to do the pre shoot the night before the wedding where a large part of the wedding party would congregate at the Salisbury Arms bar/restaurant literally just opposite their wedding venue. They asked me if I would like to join them for a meal but with the amount of work I had to do and also having to prepare both for their wedding the next day and another full day wedding the day after their wedding, I politely declined.

So what I did was take a few staged photos and a number of candid shots and I really enjoyed this session. Tina and Philip are an absolutely lovely couple and their wedding party was equally lovely, so both their pre shoot and wedding were a pleasure to capture. With regards to their wedding, I’m just finishing off a couple jobs right now but I’ll blog their wedding in two or three days time.

That leads me onto the big catch up. Well first of all I’ve been mentally busy with work. I’m typically doing three or four photoshoots a week right now which take me all over the Edinburgh area and with my daughter Amelia still being really young and needing a LOT of attention managing time has been difficult. Year on year I’m getting busier with weddings but I also now have a regular photo job which takes me out a couple days a week and involves photographing cars (I’ll blog about this soon).

Thankfully now we’ve just hit September, Liv has gone back to college and Amelia has now started nursery (I’ll blog about this soon within Amelia’s six month old post). This means I now have time to catch up with editing photos, posting photos, chasing up suppliers, admin work, marketing, taxes, everything! So as you can guess I still have a lot of work to do but I’m rapidly plugging through it all and should be completely up to date in a week or so.

It’s really amazing how much time a young baby takes up but straight after typing up this post I’ll be putting finishing touches to another wedding which I’ll also blog about, probably in ten days time or so. For now hope you like the captures below and do check up the Salisbury Arms if you live in the Edinburgh area. The restaurant itself has a really nice look and ambience to it and while I didn’t eat anything I had a sneaky peak at some of the customers food and it looked really delicious.
