scotsman hotel edinburgh wedding

This February I had the pleasure of capturing my first wedding at the Scotsman Hotel on Edinburgh’s North Bridge. For those who know nothing about the Scotsman, it’s a 5 star luxury hotel right in the centre of Edinburgh just between New Town and Old Town. From the outside the hotel is completely unassuming. You can see a main entrance and an entrance to the hotel but that’s it. Otherwise it just looks like another typical Edinburgh building.

Today’s blog post is bit of a strange one. Probably only once or twice a year I’m asked not to use photos with the couple’s faces in them. While I completely respect this it does make for strange blog posts and it’s a shame as many of the photos turned out really beautiful. So, there are some detail shots and some ambient shots. It felt a bit strange to include too many photos of guests and not the couple but I’ve been given permission to show photos of the couple in print form so if you’re interested in using me to photograph your wedding at the Scotsman by all means get in touch and I can sit down with you and show you many more photos.

Another few notes about the wedding. Lisa and Richard were absolutely lovely to work with and they were kind enough to feed myself and Liv (Liv assisted me until the meal). A lot of couples don’t feed us and that’s fine but weddings are long days and we’re always very appreciative of this. Also the hotel was great to work in. All of the staff were really friendly and I had a chat with a few of the waiters and the master of ceremony and everyone was great. I also love the arrangement they have at the Scotsman for weddings. Many hotel weddings take place in one room (two maximum) but this wedding took place in essentially four rooms. There was a bar area for people to hang around, the ceremony room (which was lovely btw), a wedding breakfast room and an events room. This allowed everything to run really smoothly and even though I was at the wedding for just eight or so hours it felt an awful lot quicker.

Hope you like the photos from this great wedding and as mentioned above, if you’re getting married at the Scotsman and are interested in seeing more photos please get in touch
