St Giles Edinburgh Wedding. Sometimes but not very often I’ll book a wedding and then before the wedding happens almost everything changes about it. One of these such weddings was for Kelly and Keith which I captured at the beginning of August and the original plan was to take preparation photos at the Apex Hotel in Waterloo Place, followed by a ceremony at Lothian Chambers and with the reception at Imperial Palace on the other side of the city.
All of these venues are really cool and Kelly and Keith are a really nice couple so I was quite excited about spending the day with them at these three venues that I know really well but just a few months before the wedding Kelly contacted me to tell me the wedding venue had been changed to St Giles Church in the Marchmont area of Edinburgh and the reception would be held back at the hotel.
This for me was all really good and I really enjoyed capturing a wedding at St Giles and the reception was good fun. St Giles in Marchmont, not to be confused with St Giles Cathedral in Old Town, is really beautiful on the outside but really dark inside, while still being quite attractive, so it was a fairly challenging venue to capture but cool nonetheless.
We also made provisional plans to go up Calton Hill after the wedding to take some photos but with times and the evening plans the couple decided we didn’t have time so we stayed at the hotel where I captured a number of group and reportage photos. All in all it was a really great day, Kelly and Keith are exceptionally nice and it was really nice for me to get to work in a new venue.
